MORE PLEASURE MORE ROOM TO PLAY
Waypoint Within is a place to explore connection, confidence, choice and a richer relationship with your body.
I work one-to-one with people who want more ease in their intimate lives and relationships. You might want to communicate more clearly, understand your own responses, reconnect with pleasure, or discover what genuinely feels right for you.You may also be finding your way back to yourself after experiences that made choice, trust or connection difficult. You do not need to explain or define those experiences before you are ready. There is room here for curiosity, uncertainty, changing your mind and moving at your own pace.Curiosity is enough reason to begin. Some experiences take us far from ourselves. Waypoint Within is a space for people ready to return — to their own mind, their own body, and their own sense of who they are.In person in Wollongong · Online

Start Point

People rarely arrive knowing which kind of work they need. They know that something feels flat, exhausting, confusing or no longer sustainable. You may have built a life that looks successful but no longer feels satisfying. Work may have taken up so much space that rest feels empty and connection has become difficult. You may be questioning what you want, what you believe, or how to recognise a choice as your own.You may want more pleasure, closeness and vitality—or simply to feel present in your own life again. When you need to know where you stand-
You may be caught in repeated conflict with a partner, child, family, workplace or community. Every conversation seems to become an argument, and you no longer know whether you are asking too much, giving too little or responding reasonably.
It can be tempting to look for an authority who will decide who is right. My role is not to arbitrate for people who are not in the room or help you win an argument. We can examine the competing needs, claims and interpretations while keeping the direction of your life in your hands.
The work is to uncover what matters to you: what you need, what you want, what you can offer, what you cannot continue giving and where your boundaries lie. Greater clarity may not change another person’s mind, but it can help you decide how you want to respond.
Intimacy coachingYou might feel disconnected from pleasure, uncertain how to communicate what you want, or caught in patterns that make closeness difficult.Perhaps affection remains but something has gone quiet. Perhaps you are curious about greater depth or play but do not know how to approach it. Perhaps past experiences have made trust, desire or receiving attention more complicated.Intimacy coaching offers one-to-one space to explore connection, communication, boundaries, pleasure and your relationship with your body. You are welcome to bring partner concerns without your partner attending.Counselling and hypnotherapyYou may be exhausted from holding everything together, unable to stop even when achievement no longer satisfies you, or unsure who you are outside the work, relationship, belief system or community that once organised your life. This work includes recovery from burnout, compulsive overwork, high-control relationships, cult involvement and other experiences that have narrowed your world or complicated your trust in your own judgment.Counselling gives us room to examine what happened, what continues to shape you and what you want now. Hypnotherapy may be included where focused work with attention, imagery, emotional responses or established habits would be useful. You do not need to arrive knowing what is wrong, what to call it or which approach you need. We work that out together.Botanical and sensory elementsOn occasion, I create a tailored sensory experience using botanicals, scent, light, texture and other carefully chosen elements. Any additional preparation and cost are discussed beforehand.Cult and coercive-control recoveryYou may have left the group, teacher, relationship or system while still feeling its influence inside your decisions.Perhaps the story you tell about the experience does not match what happens in your body. You may believe that much of it was good or meaningful, yet find yourself frightened, confused, angry or unsure of your own judgment. Panic, nightmares, tears or physical distress may seem to arrive without an explanation that makes sense to you.We do not have to decide immediately which account is correct. Your memories, beliefs, emotions and bodily responses may hold different parts of the experience. The body offers information, but it does not issue a verdict. We can stay with the dissonance long enough to understand what each response may be protecting, expressing or asking you to notice. You may also miss the belonging, purpose, spiritual meaning or intensity while recognising that aspects of the experience carried a cost. Recovery does not require you to condemn everything, surrender what remains valuable or adopt someone else’s interpretation. This is dedicated work for examining control, identity, belonging, consent, meaning and the process of rebuilding a life that feels recognisably your own.Recovery takes time because understanding, grief, identity and trust cannot be processed to a timetable. Continuity can support the work, but your consent is ongoing. You may pause, change direction or end at any time. We continue only while the work remains useful to you.

About

My way hereI’m Bec Sonkkila. I work with the places where intimacy, relationship, body and personal history meet.I qualified as a naturopath in 1996 and have worked with clients for more than 25 years. My subsequent education has included counselling, hypnotherapy, yoga instruction, kinesiology, tantra education and natural fertility management, with continuing professional study in behavioural change and trauma recovery. My approach has developed through decades of practice rather than allegiance to a single school. Counselling provides a structure for examining experience, meaning and relational patterns. Hypnotherapy offers focused ways of working with attention, imagery, emotional responses and established habits. Embodied practices help us notice how experience is being organised through breath, sensation, tension, movement, interest and hesitation.I work integratively, but not indiscriminately. I consider what a person is bringing, what a proposed practice may offer and whether it is appropriate within my scope. I explain what I am suggesting and why. Participation remains a choice. My professional judgment is also informed by long engagement with contemplative, embodied and altered-state traditions. I understand the quest for awakening, transcendence and spiritual meaning, as well as the powerful states that can arise through movement, sexuality, yoga, meditation and shared practice. An intense state does not tell us, by itself, what produced it or what purpose it serves. A sexual experience, a yoga practice, a group experience and a spiritual pursuit may overlap, but they are not interchangeable. Each can carry different intentions, relationships, benefits and costs.I pay particular attention to how awe, intensity and altered states can shape attachment, certainty, authority and choice. I do not assume that a powerful experience necessarily reveals truth, establishes consent, or carries spiritual or therapeutic value.I have a long and diverse life behind me. I understand from the inside what high-control relationships and environments cost a person—and what genuine recovery can require. This shapes the care I take with authority, consent and interpretation.I work alongside you rather than positioning myself as the final authority on your experience. I will ask difficult questions, offer another frame, create useful friction and question assumptions that no longer seem to serve you.
My approach is curious, engaged and sometimes playful. I remain engaged with current thinking and research, bringing new frames into the conversation when they offer something useful. We can examine them as possibilities rather than treating them as established truths. No method or explanation is treated as sacred. An idea earns its place through what it helps you notice, understand or change.
You remain the person who decides what fits, what does not, and what meaning an experience has in your life. The work is a process of examining that together—not replacing your uncertainty with my certainty.
Each person has the right to assess the benefits and costs of their choices in their own time, across their life and within counselling.I was a named contributor featured in the BBC World Service investigative series World of Secrets: The Bad Guru - an investigation into the MISA cult and its founder Gregorian Bivolaru. In 2024 I spoke at Decult, Australasia’s inaugural cult awareness conference, held in Christchurch, New Zealand. After a decade living in Helsinki, Finland, my cultural home, I am now based in Wollongong, NSW. I work in person and online with people internationally, with appointments arranged across time zones.

THE MISTRESS WITHINAT THE MOVING CENTREThere is no perfect position to find and hold.

We are moving within a living geometry whose origins we cannot completely know and whose outcome has not yet been decided.Body. Attention. Desire. Memory. Judgment. Relationship. Each enters the structure and changes its shape. The movement is not a flaw in the design. The movement is the design.

She is the deepest listener in the room.

The Mistress does not stand outside this geometry and direct it toward a predetermined end.She enters its moving centre. She is not necessarily the loudest voice, the strongest force or the person exerting the greatest control. She listens inwardly to sensation before it becomes certainty. She listens outwardly to the other person, the atmosphere, the distance between bodies and the currents moving through the room. She notices contraction, pleasure, performance, hesitation, invitation and change—without demanding that they immediately resolve into a simple answer.Text

Her command grows from listening. Her surrender grows from listening. Her boundary grows from listening.Even her uncertainty becomes an instrument of attention.

The more deeply she can remain within the moving centre, the less she needs to force what happens next. Her response can arise in relationship with more of what is actually present—not only the loudest desire, the strongest expectation or the first available interpretation. This does not guarantee a perfect outcome. There is no perfect outcome waiting to be uncovered. There is the possibility of a more responsive next movement—one that includes more of the body, more of the field and more of the people within it.

WHEN THE GEOMETRY TIGHTENSJudgment enters the room:Too much. Not enough.Too sexual.Too sensitive.Too difficult.Disappointing.Wrong.The body may begin editing itself before we even know what we feel.

You do not have to prove the judgment wrong immediately. You do not have to force yourself back into certainty.Keep something moving.Change the distance.Circle the moment.Repeat what you already have.Breathe visibly.Turn. Sound. Soften. Intensify.Scatter the gaze.Let the air carry what words cannot yet hold.

These movements do not return you to who you were before the moment changed. They restore your ability to listen from where you are now.Finding your way does not mean returning to a perfect course. It means restoring movement and communication within a structure that is still becoming. The Mistress within does not always know the way.She knows how to listen for the next movement.

YOU HAVE MET THE MISTRESS WITHIN.Private work is where we learn how she moves. We notice what interrupts your listening, where you lose the thread and how your particular body restores movement, range and relationship. The workshop introduces the geometry.A private session lets us enter yours.
